Android as Audio Recorder

Hello I have a galaxy s3 which is rooted to run cyanogenMod, I am also in a film class, and I was looking to improve the audio quality in my films with Lapel Microphones. I order Neewer lapel Mics from amazon (not expecting much as they were around $5 for three. Anyways they came and the work fine on my computer but on my android phone (I was planning on plugging them into the phone in my pocket) they dont work at all. Upon further inspection I realized that they are TRS not TRRS. Is their anyway I can still use them (if not they were $5 so Meh)
