I just wanted to show the first rig that I bought for my birthday and just wanted to know whether it turned out great and know what improvements or upgrades I should make for the future.

Thats a locked CPU which you paired with an overclocking board (Z97). Unless you are planning to upgrade to an unlocked processor in the future, you can shave quite a lot of money and get yourself a h81/h85/h97 board.

I was planning to overclock once I get a 4690K

please upgrade to any quad core in the future. Gaming will definitely benefit from it.

I3's are a gr8 choice for gaming. They beat athlons and the fx6300 in most games. Upgrading to an i5 will make a difference but with a 280 the difference will be small enough that it is not an urgent upgrade
