Nexus 5 microphone problems

Hi my father asked me for a way to fix a problem on his nexus 5. Here is the problem: the microphone does not work in normal mode when he takes a call, he needs to put it in speaker phone mode. This bothers me and him since I have never seen something like this before nor heard of it.

 

I trust this community to at least help me find an anwser.

Did you try to google it ? cause it seems there is a lot of video about it ! (and threads)
