My computer has served me good for the past 4 years, but it is has a hard time with some of the newer games my brother and I want to play. He wants to play games like Fifa 15,NBA 2k16 and up. My current pc specs are:

CPU: AMD Phenom X6 1045T w/ Stock cooler

MOBO: Gigabyte GA-78LMT-S2P (rev 5.x)

GPU: MSI Geforce GT 620

RAM: Patriot Gamer 2 Series 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333

Storage: Toshiba 1TB 7200RPM

PSU: Corsair CX 430W 80+ Bronze Semi-Modular

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit)

A few of the upgrades I was thinking of were:

1. Getting some sort of aftermarket cooler, maybe OC. I was thinking a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo

2. Getting a better graphics card. I was thinking a 750 Ti.

3. Getting an SSD.  A few problems are I don't have a copy of windows and I don't know how to remove windows from the hard drive.

I'm hoping to able to play at 1080p, 60 fps or better. I don't have a specific budget just try to keep the prices low. I'm open for any and all suggestions.

Get a new CPU and mobo first, maybe an i5 4460 and a cheap H97 mobo

then in the future, upgrade to a 970 and bam you got a beast PC

oh and dont forget to get a better PSU, CX PSU's are not good for gaming rigs or high end rigs

Early 2020 Build : Intel i7 8700k // MSI Krait Z370 // Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Aorus 5700 XT // NZXT H500

Early 2019 Build : Ryzen 2600X // Asus Tuff X470 // G.Skill Trident Z RGB 8x2 16GB // MSI RTX 2070 // NZXT H500

Late 2017 Build : Intel i7 8700k // Asus Prime Z370-A // G.Skill Trident Z 8x2 16GB // EVGA GTX 1080 Ti  // NZXT S320 Elite

Late 2015 Build : Intel i7 6700k // Asus Maximus VI Gene Z170 //  Corsair LPX 8x2 16GB // Gigabyte GTX 970 // Corsair Air 240

Get an R9 390 and a new PSU, then save up some money and get a Skylake CPU and a Z/H170 mobo. Your CPU might bottleneck the 390 but, as you said, you'll be at least able to run games until you get a new CPU and mobo.

I am most likely gonna get a new PSU, but im not sure about an R9 390. It seems a little expensive to me though if it's the best option i'll go for it. What about an R9 290 or some other card? Skylake seems like a good option though it will be a little while before I can save up enough money.

sell the pc you have and use the money along with some saved up cash to buy and build a brand new pc

you need new everything except for your hdd and ram

edit: your ram is at 1333. it would be better if you had 1600 mhz minimum

I would rather not sell it since I was planning on reusing a few things if I end up deciding to go with a new pc, but for now I think a few upgrades would be better. Yea I was thinking about upgrading ram but the MOBO can only handle 1333 so I will get better ram when that gets upgraded.

It's the same price as the GTX 970 in the US and in Europe, it performs better and has double the amount of VRAM, sounds a good deal to me. But if you're hyped up for MGSV, the GTX 970 might be a better choice as Nvidia are offering the game with it, that'll save you 50 or 60$.

I'm not too hyped up for MGSV so if the r9 390 is better, I think I'll go with that

You need to get a new PSU too, you'll need a 620-650W if you want to overclock in the future, get something like the the Seasonic M12II 620, the Rosewill Photon 650 or the Cooler Master V650

Yea I was already going to get a better PSU. Also since I expected the GPU in the $100-$200 range, I would need to buy the R9 390 around the time that Black Friday is going on so I can maybe get a better deal and have time to save up another $150.

You should get both the GPU and PSU at the same time, or get the PSU first, as the CX430 will barely power up the rig. If you want a GPU in the 100-200$ range, there's the R9 280X that's going for as cheap as 180$, it's still a great card, able to max out most games at 60+ FPS, but you may want to lower the settings a bit in newer games, your second choice is the R9 380, just get the 4GB version as 2GB aren't enough for today's games, and your last choice is buying used, sometimes you may get lucky and find something like the HD 7970 for like 100$. You'll still need to get a new PSU though.
