Does r9 290 support DX12 ?

Yes, and when games implement DX12.

It should support it, but will not get full support. Only a few cards right now have full support.

I think AMD said GCN 1.1 will support DX12 and Vulken.

Only the 980ti in fact but that's further away though I believe is that 12.1 thingie.

970, 980, 980ti and titan x gets full dx12 support (12.1) on the nvidia side. i am unsure which AMD cards get full support dough but iirc it was R 300 series and all the Fury cards
