Hi guys,

As we all know, Windows 10 is coming soon, and I've been trying to figure out how the free update will work.

I'm planning to install Windows from scratch. Will I be able to do that? Will we get an ISO file to install through USB, or do we absolutely have to update from an existing Windows installation?  It wouldn't make sense, but I haven't been able to find any info on that. Also, does my Windows 7 license becomes a valid Windows 10 license?

Thanks.

When you upgrade to Windows 10, you'll do an "upgrade." You'll keep your existing files and programs. That being said, after this upgrade, you can take your activation key, reinstall Windows, and use this key to activate your copy. Whether or not you can use this key to download an .ISO is unbeknownst to me.

I read that after you upgrade your Win 7/8/8.1 key essentially becomes a windows 10 key.  According to that site, we should be able to do a clean install using an ISO (if/when MS provides it).

I haven't heard any straight official word on this, so I guess we'll know when win10 releases.
