Virtualbox VM won't boot

Go to solution Solved by itachipirate,

Any times I've used it I haven't had a problem. Perhaps try scrapping all of the VMs and reinstall Virtualbox entirely. What instructions are you following when setting up your VM?

Apparently Avast! Re-enabled itself... Re-installing VirtualBox fixed the issue. I'd heard about Avast removing VirtualBox's files, I've set up an exclusion and re-installed the program. Thank you for your help!

Hey I was using Oracle Virtualbox on my computer and it worked fine for a day, then when I tried to use it again today both of the VMs I created will not boot. I've tried posting a help request on their forums, but unfortunately their community is completely dead and useless. It gets about far enough to show a black background with white text then it tells me there has been a critical error. All help is appreciated, I'm using an FX-6300, 16gb 1333mhz RAM, and a GTX 970. Log file is attached, nothing has changed since yesterday and I am running it as administrator.

I searched "error" in the log and this is the line where it appeared

"00:01:46.605065 ERROR [COM]: aRC=VBOX_E_INVALID_VM_STATE (0x80bb0002) aIID={872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed} aComponent={ConsoleWrap} aText={Invalid machine state GuruMeditation when checking if the guest entered the ACPI mode)}, preserve=false aResultDetail=0"

If it's only got a day of use, it may just be easier to destroy the VM and create a new one than trying to fix your current ones.

I'm not doing anything with this POS unreliable program until I'm sure I won't have to make a new VM every single day

I doubt it will come to that. Have you tried creating another VM since? Just to see if it lasts longer than a day?

No i haven't. I've been trying to avoid doing another whole Windows installation, plus i already had programs installed on both of these VMs. I really wish I hadn't trusted this shitty program in the first place. What a waste of time. I'll try a new one now

Starting a new VM doesn't work. I'm really fed up with this program
