So I have an ibuypower case msi mobo 950 watt peak 850 watt rosewill psu 4 gig ram and it came with a msi geforce 610 gpu.. I bought off cragslist a nvidia 260 gtx & evga gtx both geforce 285.. And when I put them in i get green lines and sometimes purple vertical lines faint and there is a black boarder around the whole screen I am super crazy fustrated i just got into pc gaming and well my inboard graphics through mobo dyi works and msi 610 works but when i put ether of the better 260 285 nothing....

The first time i bought nvidia 260 gtx it did what i exsplaned at first in this topic but it worked for a week and one morning I started my pc and it started doing the green line bs so I turned it off and my gurl felt bad bought me a $40.00 evga gtx 285 and it did the same thing... Were about to just drive to seattle bc i live in wa and just buy another one for 69.99 with 30 day money back ..but idk would like to save money stress ect... if anyone is willing too help...my email is stonebone5322@gmail.com and if anyone has any idea please help lol im even willing to pay if i can get this working..

Try another Display and see what happens. 2 defect cards, very unlikely.

The 3rd Photo is useless btw.

if intel, try using onboard graphics as your output,

 

if the board isnt intel (AMD), see if theres an output on the mobo, if not, you may need to get a "el cheapo" video card as your output (that was a joke)

 

if lines still present, theres an issue with the internals of the system and not the gpus. otherwise, the gpu is at fault.

 

How to fix: change the cpu+mobo if onboard shows defects

                   or change the gpu if the onboard graphics show no issue (a 750ti would be an excellent choice)

so i put the psu and hooked it all up my self u think its something i did with the hook up too the mobo that would do that bc i had it working for a week and just one day it stopped or i mean went back too green screen

Holy shit, I'm sorry but those pictures are so terrible. Try to get some proper lighting on the monitor, and get the whole monitor in the whole frame without taking a picture at an angle. I can't even understand half the stuff you are saying because its console talk. Not trying to be rude, just work on your internet skills a little more

 

If the card is artifacting, it is useless. Try to get rid of it and buy a brand new card. Old cards like GTX 2xx are almost irreverent in terms of gaming power, I would suggest getting at least GTX 6xx cards. Avoid craigslist if possible, and if you have to buy used make sure they test it for you and run a stress test.

For the Future: If you want buy used Cards, which is never a good Idea in my Eyes, dont buy them from untrusty sources.
