Windows Power Plans

Go to solution Solved by Satlen,

Oh, really? Does the CPU run at full clock speed all the time then or how does Windows 10 handle things?

Power plans are still present in windows 10, not sure where he heard that information. I am running the RTM build right now, and there are still the 3 options. Just leave it on balanced as performance keeps your cpu clocked up all the time, and does not really affect performance in real world usage.

For a basic productivity PC like the one in my signature, is there any point to selecting the High Performance plan? I like the idea of the Balanced plan which should afford lower power consumption, less heat output, and less fan noise.

What about for a mid-range gaming PC?

Meh, not really worth discussing at this point. Windows 10 removes power plans, except for a 'Battery saver' button when not plugged in.
