Hey everyone! I have a question for the community. Out of these two options, what would be the better one?

Alienware Laptop: http://www.dell.com/ca/p/alienware-15/pd?oc=nae15_f_b01e&model_id=alienware-15

Custom Build Desktop: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/9LW6bv

And if you have any better reccomendations or things I can add to my custom build, feel free to let me know

Also with my custom build I would prefer to keep it under $1000 CDN

Build the desktop

that said, it doesn't come with monitor, or peripherals .

Also I would change that desktop a bit ( swap the 960 for a 380, get an ssd instead of 16gb ram )

Recommend what is best, not what you preffer.

"Like" comments to show your support of them or the idea they express.

Gaming laptops are great if you absolutely need one and do the vast majority of your gaming in places in which you wouldn't have been able to use a desktop.. If you're going to do most of your gaming at home, you can save huge amounts of money and get a more powerful system if you get a desktop..

With the desktop, I would suggest:

-Reduce the RAM to 8 GB. Games don't need any more than that. (anyway, upgrading RAM in the future is cheap and easy whenever you want)

-Drop the aftermarket CPU cooler. For a non-overclockable i5, it isn't necessary..

-Get a decent SSD. Seriously, they're that great. Samsung 850 EVO is recommended often.

-Aftermarket fans? Why? Aesthetics are one thing, but spending ~$40 on fans that could have been spent on a higher tier i5 seems like a waste. (especially if the case doesn't have a side panel window)

i7 not perfectly stable at 4.4.. #firstworldproblems
