I use Republic Wireless and I love it. Buy your own phone (they only offer Moto E / Moto G / Moto X) but I think you may also be able to use a pre-owned Spring phone, I may be wrong though. There's no contract, and you can change plans at any time. I have the $10/month plan for unlimited call/text (no data) and a first gen Moto X. They have data plans for .5 to 3 GB of data ranging from $17.50 to $55. You can also call and text over wifi if you do not get very good reception which is really handy as well.

I'm on Harbor Mobile, which runs on T-Mobile's network. You get all of the TMo goodies such as free roaming, free music streaming, etc. Plus all of their plans are cheaper. They even have a $50 unlimited LTE plan, which is what I'm on.

You need an invite to sign up for a plan though. Just email them and ask for an invite code (which is what I did). If they don't give it to you in the first email, BS any information they ask from you and stay general. They don't fact check.
