You Display/Monitor GURUs - Advice Needed

Hi,

I'm looking for some advice on possibly getting a new monitor.  My current monitor was purchased with a Dell computer in 2009.  Last summer I built myself a gaming rig using an Intel Core i7-4790k,  ASUS GeForce GTX 760 video card, 250 GB Samsung SSD, 1TB Seagate HDD, 32 GB of Kingston HyperX DDR3 memory and an ASUS Z87 Pro motherboard.  After building this computer in a Corsair Carbide 500R case, I ditched the Dell but continued to use the monitor.  The reason I kept the monitor is because I liked it.  It had 4 USB ports, built in webcam and microphone.  The base/stand for this monitor is sturdy and has many different ways to adjust.  Like I said, I really liked the features of this monitor, but it is 6 years old now.  Here are the monitor specs:

Model             Dell SP2309W

I've been playing alot of War Thunder on this computer and I'm really starting to get into it, so I was thinking about swapping out my GTX 760 for a GTX 960 or 970, but then I asked myself if their would be any point to doing this with an "older" monitor.

So, I started to dig through the web pages of NewEgg, NCIX, Memory Express, Tiger Direct and even (heaven forgive) Best Buy and Staples. 24 inches seems to be the standard now I guess?  It seems that monitors with webcams and mics are not so prevalent anymore.  One thing I found interesting is that monitors with speakers are prevalent still.  This is a feature I am absolutley not interested in as I have a 7.1 surround system on my PC.  I also noticed that the stands/supports for these newer monitors seem to be flimsy and when you read the comments on some of these newer displays/monitors that is one of the common complaints.  If I could get my current monitor with the same features, but the "newer" technology I would snap it up in a heartbeat, but I can't seem to find anything.

I will admit, displays/monitors are not my strong point.   I know very little about them when compared to componets that you buy for a PC (i.e. motherboards, drives, memory, CPUs, etc).  So, I'm looking for some input what you people who are know much about displays/monitors.  Please pass me your opinions and advice.

Thank you,

K

Webcam is pretty uncommon these days, but you can find USB hubs in plenty of higher-end monitors. The Dell U2414H/U2415 are very good options. The ASUS PA248Q is also a decent one if you prefer the USB ports on the side for more convenience.
