Hey,

Planning on purchasing my first self-assembled pc by end of July, and I need some help on a few things (mainly motherboard and power supply, compatibility, all listed below). Found it really hard to get replies on reddit for this, so I'd ask here since Linus' and Hardwarecanucks' youtubes to help me quite a bit. I do plan to overclock lightly.

PC partpicker link: http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/pLDXzy

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($404.98 @ DirectCanada)
Pretty set on 4790K, x99 (i7 5820) more expensive for no actual performance gain (loss actually) on what I will mostly use this for (gaming). I don't really see myself just upgrading CPU later on, and RAM doesn't really limit anything even at 16GB these days, so I don't see the point in x99.

CPU Cooler: Corsair H110i GT 113.0 CFM Liquid CPU Cooler  ($139.99 @ Canada Computers)
- Cooler master has better performance but has really bad pump noise issues?
- Not sure which of the corsair models is best
- How worried should I be about leaks? This cooler will sit above the GPU...

Motherboard: MSI Z97A GAMING 7 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($224.99 @ Memory Express)
Having trouble deciding here. MSI is one of the 4 reliable mobo companies, with RMA rates seeming to be lower than ASUS recently.
+ most intuitive over clocking bios + software, dual bios, has newest USB 3.1 ports, has 2-way SLI (don't need more), AMP to drive low-impedence headphones, best price
- Killer e2200 NIC, only 1 amped audio port?, possibly not enough fan headers?, short on accessories
Mainly I want a reliable $200+ mobo that can handle overclocking. I hear bad things about the Killer e2200 NIC compared to ASUS intel, does anyone else have issues with it? I do a lot of competitive gaming, and this could be a deal breaker. Really the only other option I see in the same price range is the Asus Maximus Hero VII, is this the better option? Other than the NIC it seems like a more expensive mobo with less to offer.

Memory: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory  ($130.98 @ Newegg Canada)
Is this speed compatible with my CPU?
pc part picker let me pick it with compatibility filter on but says "The G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-2400 Memory operating voltage of 1.65V exceeds the Intel Haswell Refresh CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum."
- Also, does RAM speed limit CPU overclock multipliers?

Storage: Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive  ($219.99 @ Newegg Canada)
Samsung offers best speed to price ratio, only crucial comes close.
- Heard 840 had degradation issues, but 850 doesn't? Can anyone confirm?
- Otherwise I was considering a Crucial BX100 or an m.2 SSD but I can't find anything good and don't even know if MSI mobo supports M+B or only M format

Video Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6GB Video Card  ($914.98 @ Newegg Canada)
- Might get another much later for SLI, will two non-reference cards like this still work ok in SLI if the case is well ventilated?

Case: Corsair Air 540 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($163.50 @ Vuugo)
- Easy to build and good ventilation, only minus is the lack of dust filter at top
   - Should I replace the front fans with 3 fan setup? If so, which fans?
- Was also considering the Corsair 450D

Need reliability for overclock and a compatibility check.
- Will I have enough connections for my build and 2-way SLI?
- Should I spring $50 more for 1200W?
- The other one I was considering was the Seasonic SS-1050XP3 1050W

Keyboard: Ducky Shine 4 Wired Gaming Keyboard  ($167.24 @ Amazon Canada)
The noppoo choc mini I am using has its cable frayed (only works in 1 position)
- Need cherry mx browns, nkro, good build quality, detachable cable, backlit is a plus
- Tenkeyless is preferable, so I would actually go for the Shine 3 but I hear it has issues with bad batch of LEDs

Total: $2679.63
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

Please help, I've only gotten junk replies on reddit and I'd appreciate it if even one or two of my questions were answered or any other advice given.

1. Budget & Location
$3000 CAD excluding tax.
2. Aim
Gaming (AAA titles like Witcher 3 and competitive like DOTA), light video editing and streaming.

 Monitors

1 1440p 144Hz G-Gync Monitor, I plan to purchase this half a year to a year later. Exclude monitor from budget. Maybe 2 monitors much later on, but I don't care if I can't game on 2 monitors.

4. Peripherals
A new mechanical keyboard, see details above.
5. Why are you upgrading?
Need new pc for everything.

for single threaded workloads a 4790k would be better because of higher clockspeeds

edit: oops sorry I mistake Canadian dollars for CAD work, rookie mistake my apologies furthermore for gaming this system will do just fine.

I had to re-read the post several times before I understood that CAD indicated currency, not system use.

@Streltsy, can you post the pcpartpicker permalink to the build please.

Link posted, http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/pLDXzy  and title edited. Sorry for confusion.

I didn't mean for this to turn into a 5820 vs 4790 debate, really I'm pretty decided on the 4790K. It's the other stuff I need more advice/answers on.

EVGA 220-GS-1050-V1 is as good as the 220-PS-1000-V1 and a bit less expensive.

G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory, G.Skill Ares Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory, or Kingston HyperX Fury Black 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1866 Memory would, IMO look better with the MSI motherboard.
