Speed Fluctuation

Lately my Internet speed has been acting weird, I would get anywhere from 30-4 Mbps within a 10 mintue period. The router is about three years old and has been acting up lately, but I've also noticed the power flicks off for a brief second more often now (not sure if that has to do with it, it usually happens every 2 weeks). We have Comcast Internet, and I'm not sure if it's them or if we have to get a new router.

This usually works for me, I do it at least once a day to make sure my speeds don't drop too much over time (I have a bad local ISP, cannot switch ATM without fees being shoved where I don't want them).

Edit: It could also be your modem, especially if comcast provided it to you.

it says it's an opensource router... i would suggest reading up on ddwrt firmware option for your router.

If you have a spare PC you could always put pfSense on it.
