I've been trying to get Wake on Lan to work at my work place.

Dell precision T1700

Windows 8.1

Bios A08

I disabled fast boot

i also enabled wake on lan in the bios

Wake on lan did work on a Dell optiplex 380 with windows 8.1 within the same range

The tool i'm using is WinWOL version 1.01 and WakeMeOnLan 1.71

if you need any more information feel free to ask.

Are you using a network card or the built in LAN  on the motherboard?

Did I help you to fix your problem or at least did offer somewhat valuable advice? Consider giving my post a "informative" or "thumbs up".

Is there a firewall present and if so is it configured for the signal to pass through? (Company firewall on network?)

I don't have first hand experience with wake on LAN but I was under the impression that you needed a PoE switch for it?

POE is best described as a unit that provides POWER OVER ETHERNET. Henceforth the acronym PoE. It uses one pair of the twisted wires  on an Ethernet cable to provide the power to a remote AP. (access point)

  1. Power over Ethernet (PoE) is a technology for wired Ethernet LANs (local area networks) that allows the electrical current necessary for the operation of each device to be carried by the data cables rather than by power cords. Doing so minimizes the number of wires that must be strung in order to install the network
PoE is not necessary for wake on lan

I know what PoE is, I install security cameras on a regular basis.

Since I have never actually done anything with WoL my original reply was made under the assumption that for a PC to wake up from WoL the device used to communicate to the PC to wake up would send 24v or something and that would turn the PC on. Upon further reading just now I know that isn't the case.
