So my headphones are Sennheiser G4ME ONE's and i like them a lot. Recently (like 3 minutes ago) whenever the hard hitting bass hits (lol that sounds stupid) where the bass booms for like a 3rd of a sceond. Kind of like the beat of the song. When that happens i kind of hear a plasticy click somewhere in between plastic and metal sound. I am pretty sure i know why. I turned on bass boost in windows sound settings, more specifically, boost 30 hz sounds by 12 DB It sounds great. Now, i don't actually mind the noise, i am just worried that it is hurting them (they are kind of expensive in my opinion lol) I know that subwolfers can bottom out, can headphones do this to? When i turn the volume down it doesn't do it. I tried to make sure that it wasn't literally moving the swivel mechanism on the cans into the farthest outwards position where it can't go any farther, which would cause a clicking noise, by pulling it away from the plastic bar (sorry i am not good at explaining things like this) so i am pretty sure it is nothing on the outside. So the only idea i have about this is the fact that it might be bottoming out the drivers when it hits the hard beats in dubstep. Any ideas?

Well, assuming it's performing normally, the kicks would've 'flattened' (distorted into a flat, breaking sound) before the driver bottomed out physically.

What you described sounds like a loose screw or something. The drivers should've been screwed/clamped down tight in their places that the vibrations of the membranes don't make the whole drivers move at all. If it's loose, big vibrations could rattle the whole driver.

So i am left with 3 possibilities one much worse than all the others. 1. bottoming out (best possibility) 2. screw loose (hard to fix because ear cups don't come off i think) 3. the drivers are cracked (VERY BAD) Now, the 3rd option i find slightly unlikely due to the fact that that happens when you have had them for years and have been listening to VERY loud sounds. i have only had them for less than a month and don't listen to them at a blistering volume. i think the bottoming out one is a pretty good possibility because it is distorting i think, sounds less crisp and stuff before it does that.
