So I installed my Corsair h100i and while reading the instructions I noticed that it said "connect 3 pin RPM wire to any motherboard 3 or 4 pin header"

Now my case has a fan control at the top and it's a good controller. (Phantom 820)

So under the user manual for the case it says connect any fans to one of these cables they installed for you and you connect the fans to the switch which allows you to control it from the top mounted fan control.

So now I'm not sure whether to connect the RPM wire to the case header which is 3 pin or the motherboard which is 4 pin.

Also, If I should connect the RPM wire to the motherboard should I use the System fan header or the CPU fan header?

Thanks!

Use the CPU fan header on the board.

the wire they referenced is the TACH or "RPM" of pump.. and the mobo is able to monitor the speed.

dang it dave... you are one quick ninja..

still the Noctua nf-f12 would be the fan choice. if you don't like the "color" selection

of the noctuas then i prefer the AP-15 (not PWM). but for performance edge, the

SP120PE under-volted to 7v have quite an impact on lowering temperatures with a

low-noise output. the SP120QE just don't do much for me personally. most say they

are quieter than F12, but not as windy. not a fan of the PWM SP-series.
