OVH VPS experience

I have ordered a VPS from OVH and it is saying "We check your payment manually". Has anyone ordered  and know how long there's took?

I've ordered several OVH Servers (in the $150ish/mo range) and have always loved them. The setup time can take up to a day but they truly are the best.

Thanks. I have been reading about VPS horror story's and bad customer support. But I guess I will see what happens.

Depending on the availability, I even waited a whole week for a server

 

Thanks. I have been reading about VPS horror story's and bad customer support. But I guess I will see what happens. 

 

VPS provisions are automated completely, however the payments are checked manually because OVH attracts skids like crazy (low prices, almost no control, high bandwidth) and they are prone to scams. OVH is a low profit margin company, which means they can't afford proper tech support or any kind of support.

 

Their response times are very inconsistent and technical knowledge as well as politeness are in the same boat. I've had good times and I had hell. The thing is, if you know squat about hosting in general, you're better off going with an expensive top of the line host that which has tech support agents that are willing to give you even a crash course.

Simply put, OVH is do it your self. The only thing tech can help you is when your hardware goes bad (when you have a dedicated server). 

 

Network is meh, they have very few peers and even those are not the highest quality. Their DDoS protection is okay, however it didn't work as I wanted it.

 

Bottom line, cheap service, not the best support.

I waited around 8-12 hours for my $3 VPS. If you are looking for DDoS protection i recommend using Cloud Flare. They only have L4 protection.

 

Their servers are fine. Don't expect any support from them. 

Cheap and not too bad for the price, ( i was even able to try a Minecraft server on a ubuntu dual core vps and it worked nicely.)
