I've been exposed to PC gaming by my older brother and my father which has fortunately turned me away from console gaming. Now that I've dipped my toe into the proverbial pool of PC gaming, I aspire to be like my brother one day; $1000 build running 1440p graphics at 100fps blah blah et cetera. But, herein lies the issue... my current computer can barely handle minesweeper. Want an example? How about lowest possible setting on windowed Minecraft and only 15fps. Yeah, pretty terrible.

So, I asked my mother if my brother could be paid to build a custom machine specified for 1080p gaming at medium/high graphics and reasonable frame rates (40-60 ish). But, due to my novice computer knowledge, I have no idea what's good and what's not. Also, I'm on a fairly tight budget. I can manage, at an absolute maximum, $650. A preferred price range is probably $400-550.

I know that great gaming PCs can be built for not THAT much money. My brother built my dad's computer, which runs every game I've played on it so far at Ultra graphics 1440p 60fps, for only $700 including a monitor and accessories (further information later). I don't mind playing medium graphics at 1080p with 50fps, but, the more the merrier.

I've spent a considerable amount of time doing research into tight-budget rigs to the best of my limited abilities and knowledge and have concluded that it is very much doable. And will be done. The only question is this; "How can I get the absolute best for my money?"

As of now, the parts I've picked out (after watching a couple Budget PC Builds" video on YouTube) are as follows;
***NO CASE SELECTED AS OF NOW***

CPU  ~  AMD FX-4200 Quad-Core Zambezi Processor 3.3GHz Base Clock

CPU COOLING  ~
Enermax Cooling ETS-N30-HE Black/Aluminum

MOTHERBOARD  ~  Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3

GPU  ~  ASUS r9 270 2GB

SYSTEM MEMORY  ~  Corsair Vengeance 8GB (4GBx2) 1600mhz DDR3 ram

STORAGE  ~  Western Digital 500GB HDD 16MB Cache 7200rpm

POWER SUPPLY  ~  EVGA 500w 80+ psu

INTERNAL WIFI ADAPTER  ~  TP-LINK 450Mbs dual band 2.4ghz/5ghz PCIe wifi adapter

This comes to a total of around ~$495, give or take a couple tens, without the factoring-in of a chassis or the fact that I might just take the HDD out of my current PC, although my mother is convinced that it's riddled with supposed viruses, so she might make me buy a completely new hard drive, and if so, add another $100 for an OS.

So, what I'm asking now is "How good will this setup perform with medium/high graphics at 1080p for the money being spent?" and "Can I do much better for an additional up to $50 or so?" Any and all thoughts on the matter will be appreciated, thank you.

P.S. just in case you were wondering, my dad's pc has the following:   AMD FX 6300  ,  evga geforce gtx 970 ssc  ,  8gb 1600mhz ram (idk the specifics of that). The rest is idk and I don't feel like asking him right now.

P.P.S I cannot believe I forgot to mention this, but I also plan on doing lots of HD editing with Adobe AE, drawing with Photoshop and Manga Studio, and music production with FL Studio, so it has to be decent with rendering and such as well as gaming, although gaming is prioritized over render speeds

I'll make up a build and see how much it matches yours. I'm guessing usd ? Give me a bit and I'll be back

ok so this build is what I came up with for 550$ tax included (I think) it will give you tons better rendering power (please don't use a fx 4 core they arent very powerfull. The lowest I'd go is a fx 6300 and that still holds modern gpu's back in some cases ) intel is seriously a better route to go this gives you the oportunity to go for an i7 later. The gpu is a very good gpu and will give you performance around the gtx 960 range which will play gta at decent settings at 1080p at 60 fps all day while giving you 3gb of Vram which is a good amount. This also gives you 1tb of storage

Thanks so much for all of your help! I'll make sure to remember your advice, and as for the "reusing my hdd" thing, it sounds like a great idea but I'm not sure how to wipe it. Is it as easy as emptying the Recycling Bin, although I doubt it is.

best I could come up with keeping with the 1080p 60 fps. Definitely high graphics for most games though and a 1TB Hard Drive. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/98zkK8

The only upgrade I'd recommend is get an SSD.

Thank you for taking time out of your day to kindly do this for me, but that setup is out of my price range. I'm looking for something definitely under $700 and, if possible, around $550 or less. I don't care if I have to start out playing games at medium/low settings, I can deal with that for as long as it takes to afford an upgrade.

nah you'd have to use a program or format it which removes everything on it
