thinking of upgrading

hi i just started streaming and i wondering is my x4 955be ok for streaming at 720+

 

if not my budget is 800 dollars and i live in australia and my current specs are x4 955be @3.8ghz

 

4ghz 1600mhz ram

 

hd 6950 1gb

 

antec 620m psu

That should be fine for streaming, but if you want to upgrade, pick up a AMD 8350. Would be a nice upgrade and you won't have to replace the motherboard.

It is only $200, so you will have lots of money left over. Maybe get some more RAM. 8GB should be good enough.

I'd recommend grabbing a 6 core phenom 1090T or 1100T used, you can make good use of the extra cores for streaming.

I know it's the only 6 core Phenom that AMD is still selling new, it will be a great upgrade for streaming especially if you overclock it & the new ones overclock incredibly well.

8GB of RAM will be totally fine, a GPU upgrade might be a good idea if you need more game performance, I'd suggest waiting for the 9000 series coming in October, you should be able to get significantly more performance for a very reasonable price on something like a 9870 or a 9950.

Switching to intel is not a good idea, the 6 core phenoms and 8 core FX CPUs are much better at streaming than the 4670K, I"m speaking from personal experience.

Get a 6 core phenom they're excellent.

The new ones overclock like crazy because the manufacturing process is very very mature so the CPU will probably overclock even better than your current 965.

You can get a new 1045T for about 140 dollars.
