Dilemma: Computer guts replacement.

Hey guys,

So, my computer has been dead for about a month now. I believe it's the motherboard, but I'm not entirely sure. The power supply seems to be working okay, but I can't get it to boot at all. My dilemma is whether or not to completely switch sockets. I'm running an asus p9x79 with a 3820. It was overclocked to about 4.3ghz with temps running good.

I want it running, but I'm stuck between going haswell or just replacing board, power supply, and ram. I would replace the PSU and ram anyways (the PSU is some Xtreme model or something stupid at 1000w and the ram is only 1333mhz).

I've pretty much done all the troubleshooting I can with the system and haven't made any progress, going so far as to replace the cmos battery in desperation lol.

What do you guys think?

x79+ 3820 those are good parts no need to upgrade for any performance benefits.

It is most likely a problem with the memory or main board could also be a graphics card issue.

have you tried different ram? or just one stick in all slots?

set the system up on a testbench? (motherboard box)

tried a different psu?

different graphics card?

I would personally try and get your parts going. if you upgrade your psu and ram, those parts will work with your current board and chip anyways.

does your board have a red light that lights up on the board as the different components post?

Nope, the only light is the bigger green LED that indicates there's power. The littler LEDs only come on when there are components missing, IE graphics card.
