For some reason everyone seems to be complaining about how much ram chrome uses, however I find that it is utilising large portions of my hard drive. I would guess that is because I don't have enough ram so it's using the hard drive as virtual ram or whatever it is but it my ram use is only at about 20% most of the time and my disk is at 100%. Chrome will eventually calm down but then my hard drive utilisation is still at 100% due to 'system'. How do I fix this? Also I'm not sure if this is caused by the same thing or not but whenever CS:GO it takes about 15 minutes from me clicking the icon to the main menu actually being displayed. How do I fix this? I don't have an SSD yet. Will that solve my problems?

hey... you probably have some crapware that uses your hard drive. or your HD is dying and got very slow.

First try to find which process is actually writing on the disk using the task manager. it will give you a good idea of what the problem is.

A SSD would be faster for sure but it should not be that slow anyway.

In terms of an SSD I was going to go for a Crucial BX100 500 GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal Solid State Drive. Would you recommend this? (I dont have much money)  http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00RQA6M5Y/ref=dra_a_rv_mr_hn_it_P1400_1000?tag=dradisplay0bb-21&ascsubtag=36f306b5ad905948fa68faa63b44ab00_S

well, Try to get more info on the process. Also deconect your pc from internet and check few minute later if the disk is still used.
It could comme from a Windows update... happend to me once after a fresh install. I had to reformat again and it worked.

If you want to switch to ssd this one is ok, but you will have to install a fresh version of windows, otherwise you might en up with the same issue.

try to run CCleaner, then check again. you could also format and reinstall windows as it would probably fix the issue ( and you would have to do it anyway if you buy a ssd)

I don't really know how to do any of that but i found an article on how to migrate windows and stuff to an SSD without having to reinstall everything. would that work?
