Looking for opinions on the parts chosen for a home server build. The server will be used as a NAS, virtual machine host, backup machine for other desktop/laptop, and remote access of files/folders. I plan on setting up a software RAID 10 with the HDD which is why there are 4 of them. To save money, i have 1tb drives selected and in the future as i need more space, i will buy pairs of 2tb+ drives.

You don't need a gaming gpu if you aren't gaming.

Don't use Seagate drives for this.

Also note that this thing won't be power efficient.

Get a GT-610. You do not need a 280X.

I already own the gpu from a past build.  Power efficient isn't a big issue.  What drives would you recommend that are cost effective?
