Case mod ground questions

Go to solution Solved by Matt420740,

That is technically an earth connection, not a ground.  The point of an earth connection is if something inside the case shorts out, and applies voltage to the case itself, it will take the path of least resistance and travel down the earth connection instead of shocking whatever is in contact with the case.  Its just a safety feature.  Since you aren't going to get shocked by a wooden case, it would be okay to leave it unhooked.

Your board, HDD, etc. all get their DC ground from the PSU, not the earth connection, so it will still work fine.

Hello I am case modding my imac and I have a question about the ground connection on the AC input. Right so the Input has the green ground wire bolted to a metal frame that holds the logic board, hard drive, psu, and optical drive in. The case I am building will be made out of wood. So what do I do with this ground wire. Does it need to make a connection to the Logic board and other components?

Thanks in advance
