Broken Bootloader. Fix with Backup Image?

Waltee

To cut a long story short I've messed up my bootloader and can't boot into Windows 8.1. All attempts at rebuilding the bootloader have failed and I can't find any other fixes I can try.

I've managed to get a backup image of my unbootable Windows 8.1 partition using a Windows 10 install I can still boot into on a different HDD, and used the Macrium software to get the backup.

My question is this, if I reinstall Windows 8.1 from scratch, will I then be able to use the backup image I created to restore the OS, along with all files, programs, registry entries etc. all working as they did before the bootloader issue, or would the image backup bring back the broken bootloader as well? Or would it just not work at all?

I've never had to use an image backup before so I'm not entirely sure how they work, so any help/advice would be great.
