im running :

 

AMD FX 8350 4.0GHZ 8CORE PROCESSOR

16gb hyperx ram

nvidia gtx 970

 

and for some reason ram previewing in ae takes sooooo long its unreal. is there a way to speed it up ?

Are you using an SSD or an HDD?

Also what resolution are you working with?

yh kinda like loads of particals in trapcode form and particular all 3d layers aswell as normal footage

That might be part of why its slow lol.

Here have a look at this its a guide by Adobe on how to optimize your set up.

RAM Previews are always going to be slow, as they have to load in a lot of frames into your RAM for smooth playback. Rendering 3 seconds of footage at 24fps is 72 frames of data. Each frame can be rather intensive, depending on the number of layers you're working with. Especially if you're using some of After Effect's generation effects. It's rather normal, so don't sweat it!
