1080p gaming

dougdangger

My nephew's rig:

G3258 oc'd 4.6ghz

GTX 650 ti 1gb

1080p monitor

8gb ddr3

400watt psu

He wants to game 1080p @ 60fps on most games.  He currently tops out around 40fps.  Doesn't care about AA since that's a killer.

He wants to spend no more than $200 with tax.  No ATI.

Is a 2gb GTX 750ti good enough, or is he wasting $50 by getting a 960?

I would say a 280x but that's pushing your power supply

960 would be your best bet

Intel Core i7 9700k - EVGA FTW GTX 970

A 960 is the only Nvidia card that will work with that PSU and accomplish the framerates he wants, but I don't know where you're going to find one for $200 including tax.

I would say a 270 would be a better choice, but he doesn't want AMD.

Get a 960 or an R9 280X.  Will be way more worth it than a 750ti.

I don't think the psu is big enough for a 280x ..

But it is a nice card.

The 960 would be pretty good with his build though.

Your nephew would definitely not be wasting $50 for the GTX 960. I suppose the 750 would be ok, but the 960 is worlds better in my opinion.

Sup mates?

True, I was simply suggesting a card with similar and sometimes better performance for a similar price.  Forgot to look at the PSU lol.
