Whats important?

Go to solution Solved by EMRF,

Yeah, if Intel started including free games with their Xeon line of processors the "XEON IS MORE EXPENSIVE AND IT COMES WITH GAMES SO IT'S BETTER FOR GAMING THAN i7 hurrr hurrr" crowd would come out again. *shivers* Sounds to me like you've got a good idea of what you want, and what you need in order to accomplish the performance you are seeking.

Hello, i'm into a lot of Photoshop and Lightroom editing on a 4 day a week basis. I also edit videos, and produce edm or background tracks for Car meets i record. And do a lot of gaming, so whats more important should I spend my money on CPU, or GPU? I'm getting a SSD so that should help speed things up.

I might be wrong (and get shouted at) but a good monitor would also be important, so that what's displayed to you is exactly what you want others to see. They won't see it unless it's printed, since they will have a mediocre monitor, but at least you will have tried.

A good balance between CPU and GPU power is always a great starting point. Particularly for your needs I would recomend putting a little more of your budget towards a slightly better CPU for running those editing programs with ease and reducing slowdowns where possible for a better all around editing experience. :)

I didn't ask what it was designed to do, I asked what it was capable of doing.

I'm thinking of a 4790k but with a h97 itx motherboard just cause i won't be overclocking, and the xeon e3 doesn't have the 5 free games promo which i want lol. As for GPU wise, a 960

if your not going to overclock dont bother to get the k series chip. get the locked chip and save money.
