so, about a year ago my pc died do to a very problematic electrical storm.  Since I kind of needed a pc for work, I simply ran to best buy and grabbed whatever lenovo machine was on the shelf that would get the job I needed done.  Over the last year, i've been slowly upgrading it back to a somewhat respectable machine, and have Finally reached the point where all I need is my motherboard and processor.  The current mobo/CPU combo is an Intel Pentium g2030, on some cheap factory motherboard that looks like it was made in the 90's.  The Pentiums use the LGA 1150 socket, same as the i5's and i7's, so I figure buy a motherboard first, use my Pentium processor for another couple paychecks, then buy me a nice new i7.  So I order a gigabyte z97x-gaming 7, with it's LGA1150 socket and a product page promising support for Pentiums.  Tear my pc apart, remove the CPU from the board, and prepare to lower it into the socket on my glorious new z97.  Slight problem, it doesn't fit.  The guide cutouts on the CPU are slightly closer the center of the chip than the guides on the socket.  I've never experienced this before.  Is it possible that this is a problem with the socket itself, or is it possible that the CPU was purposely manufactured slightly different in the factory to prevent you from doing this?

Pentium G2030 is LGA 1155

If you're gonna get a CPU for 1155, Get a Ivy Bridge CPU
