Hi,

I recently built my own gaming PC from parts I bought at a local hardware retailer. It has an SSD (Samsung 850 Evo 120GB) which contains the Windows 7 OS and some commonly used software, and a 1TB (WD digital blue) HDD which contains all the other data files like videos, games, pictures, etc... It has been 3 weeks or so since I built the PC and it was working fine until recently when I started to face this issue during powering on when it will take me to the screen saying "Reboot and select proper boot device or Insert boot media and press a key". I checked the Bios of my motherboard and it shows that I have the SSD as boot device 1 and HDD as boot device 2. I can only resolve the problem temporarily by going into the UEFI Bios, checking the settings and then pressing save and exit. It will then bring me to the windows 7 log in screen. But after that session of usage and a shut down and subsequent power up, I face the same problem with the black screen message again.

I've tried changing the boot device sequence a few times, launched windows start-up repair but failed, and even switched the SATA data cables from SSD to HDD and vice versa but nothing seems to work. I can only make it go away once but it always comes back the next time I restart the PC. If anyone can shed some light on the problem I'm having, I would be really grateful. This PC is really new and I definitely would not want to bring it to a shop for major repairs or have any of the parts replaced. Thank you in Advanced!:)

What else do you have plugged into your computer? I had this problem once where my mum's garmin was plugged in so the computer was trying to boot from that.
