I'm probably gonna be upgrading my PC in at most a year, though I will have a very limited budget and need to convince my dad early on what I'm gonna be upgrading to have his approval. It's gonna be used for a lot of cad work and a lot more gaming

Here's my specs

-Fx 8350

-Biostar TA-990FXE

-Sapphire 7870 OC

-Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz 2x4GB

-FSP Raider 750 W

-And an old 5:4 BenQ monitor from 2005 that is still surprisingly well

What should I upgrade first and with what? Should I just wait for next gen to come and buy current get at a discount?

The monitor will be replaced, so what decent widescreen monitor can you guys recommend? I'm not looking for high end ones with gsync and all, just good enough for me to play on, watch movies on, and one that doesn't have a reflective coating

You should have bought the 7870LE and paired it with a 7950 in crossfire! :P
(assuming cad is good with crossfireX setups).

I'd probably get a cheaper workstation gpu (i.e. quadros) for CAD as your 7870 is perfect for running games on (obviously you wont get 12421423fps on ultra settings @crysis3)

Scrapyard Build Total Cost: $268AUD

C2Q E8200 | 4 x 1gb DDR2 | GA-EP45-DS3 r1 | Gammax 200 | 320gb 2.5" | 7870LE PCS | Litepower 500w | CISCO Aironet 350
