Sounds like the drive died to me. That's rather odd, you must have gotten a bad one.

Sometimes if i reconnected the SATA power cable I would work, but now it's not even working anymore...

My guess is that the motor was defective or the read head was stuck. That may explain the clicking noise.

Bummer, may be because Toshiba HDs aren't really good?

I don't know, all three of my Toshiba drives are still working fine. I have a 500GB 2.5" drive out of a Mac, a 640GB out of a Toshiba laptop and a 750GB out of another one.

You probably just got a dud. It happens to all of us from time to time, you just have to return/RMA and move on :)

if the sata cables are in properly then it sounds like a dead drive, a word of advice be careful of toshiba drives, they arent the best known for their reliability, hgst or western digital is what i would chose, some seagates are also ok but check the reviews of them when you buy because seagate has their bad models out there

Well, that's even more strange. I have nothing to say except THE PLOT THICKENS. I wouldn't really trust the drive though, get all of the data on it backed up if you need and get a new one.

If it is working now, back up everything as soon as possible. Move your stuff to a new hard drive, preferably a WD caviar blue/black because I've never had problems with those hard drives, and they are very reliable.

It sounds like the HDD arm is stuck somewhere and won't read the platter of the disk. I had a similar problem with a seagate drive. I had to open it up and reposition the arm and it was working fine again. I could be wrong though.
