i need help in memory please

Go to solution Solved by 3DDude,

Hello I own a Asus z97 Pro Gamer motherboard with an Intel i7 4790k

now Asus's QVL is a bit old

and does not register Corsair Dominator platinum in it

but CPU will work with 1600mhz 1.5v memory

and the z97 on this board goes up to 3200mhz (oc)

will the memory from that brand work ?

I don't really need fast memory (as it will be less stable)

so i can go with 1600mhz

so will it work ?

thanks

Yes will probably work fine.

Please not that if you buy e.g. 2400MHz ram, it's always backwards compatible with lower speeds.

If your motherboard settings / CPU settings are set for 1600MHz thats fine, it will just run at 1600MHz speeds.

Like someone said, QVL is outdated, most dimms work unless you buy a really rare brand..

Corsair is definitly a proper brand, and should work.

The QVL is just a list of stuff they happened to test. Just because memory is not on the QVL list does not mean it's incompatible, just that they didn't happen to have any on hand for testing. It should work absolutely fine.

Basicly anything matching ram specs that are listed on mobo product page will work.
