Howdy y'all!

I'm planning on getting a new gaming PC that will be able to;

  • Play the latest games such as GTA V, Rust, Fallout 4, etc at decent settings, 60fps at 1080p
  • Be fairly quiet and dust proof.
  • Be small enough for me to be able to move to another house easily.
  • Have a little video editing capability.

I have come up with this and I wanted to know if I'd be achieving most of my needs.

I really have no idea what CPU's bottleneck what GPU's, but I hope that what I picked out is fairly decent.

I'd like to spend as close to £500 as possible, but I really don't mind saving up a little more if I'm going to be able to get a better part or something.

I don't need Windows or anything as I already have these, and I already have my keyboard, mouse and headset.

Also, if anyone could recommend any decent 1080p monitors for the money (preferably 60Hz+, low response times, low input delay, etc.) then that would be much appreciated.

- Thank you all :)

I'd recommend going with 2 4gb sticks instead of 1 so the cpu can benefit from dual channel ;-) the rest looks fine!

If you're going to say 'ya'll' and you aren't from Texas you could at least spell it right ;) (y'all)

Thanks for the heads up ;)

But the build looks fine. Maybe not max settings with GTA V, but you'll be alright.

Alright nice one :)

I'll take a look at some of the 2x4GB packs, thanks for the suggestion :)

Just a couple adjustments. Switched you to a i5-4460 and a H97 board. Bit more current.

Switched your memory to a dual channel two stick set

Changed you to a better power supply

Dropped the CPU cooler, not needed if you won't be overclocking

You'll probably be turning some settings down to keep 60fps though. I'd save some more money and get a 970 if you can wait.

This seems like a pretty sweet suggestion, I'll keep it mind man :)

Are you sure that if I got a 970 there wouldn't be bottlenecking issues with the CPU? I'm not really sure about any of the bottlenecking stuff so I just want to make sure :)

I doubt there would be any bottlenecking issues with a 970 and an i5.

Yours Sincerely,

You should be fine, but if you were able to save enough to upgrade the CPU to say an i5-4690k you pretty much be set for overclocking and better performance. (£36 more for CPU, £10 to bump your motherboard to a Z97, £24 for a CPU cooler and £121 to jump to a 970 = £191). I'd build something like below if saving for those changes.

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  (£179.00 @ Amazon UK)

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 54.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler  (£23.95 @ Amazon UK)

Motherboard: MSI Z97I AC Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  (£89.96 @ Scan.co.uk)

You'd be comfortably playing in 1080p with that setup, here are GTX 970 benchmarks for GTA V as example

I think that build is great and all but I think I can live with turning down a few graphical settings to save almost £200 :)

For sure, no need in spending the extra cash if you're happy with the first. The first build is solid and will serve you well.
