So every time I've built a computer I've always used dual channel memory in my systems.  I am trying to build a server on a budget right now.  Its only going to store movies, tv shows, photos, and the like.  I'm putting in 6tb of drives.  I am planning to use the Super Micro MBD-X9SCL-F-0 http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0055QFKYK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER

So my question is, can I use one 8GB Stick of ECC memory to get the system up and running and add another when a little ways down the road or am I required to run dual channel memory?  I haven't been able to find an answer anywhere in the documentation for this board.

Thanks!
