Hi guys, I've been building a new PC(My first one in fact) and I wanted to know whether my cooling will do with this CPU and the rest of the build.

For the motherboard I went with the GIGABYTE GA-Z97X-SLI Intel Z97

The CPU was obvious....i7 4790k

I didn't want to spent too much on cooling, but I didn't want the stock, so I went with the Arctic Freezer 7 Pro Rev. 2

RAM: 16GB's of HyperX Fury Red(shame they don't have green ones)

The GPU I got what seems pretty standard now(and is good price)-MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING TWIN FROZR V OC

PSU:Novatech PowerStation Black v2 Modular 750Watt PSU, 80+ Bronze(You might not have heard of the company, they're a British company and make some really good products)

Case:Novatech ATX Gaming Case(Because it has dust filters, looks cool and I can install case fans later on)

A random 120GB SSD and 1TB HDD(personal choice...could not be bothered to type the names in)

Do you think this cooler is good enough to run games(BF4, GTA5) without overheating the CPU?

Also, tell me what you think of the build, I'd like to know where I went wrong...and what you would recommend for the future

It's ok, you should just get a 212 EVO from Cooler Master to be safe. Your cooler can only dissipate 150w so don't overclock.

If you don't overclock the CPU, even the stock cooler would work perfectly.
I don't know how the 4790K is an obvious choice for gaming, but ok.

CPU: Ryzen 3 3600 | GPU: Gigabite GTX 1660 super | Motherboard: MSI Mortar MAX | RAM: G Skill Trident Z 3200 (2x8GB) | Case: Cooler Master Q300L | Storage: Samsung 970 EVO 250G + Samsung 860 Evo 1TB | PSU: Corsair RM650x | Displays: LG 27'' G-Sync compatible 144hz 1080p | Cooling: NH U12S black | Keyboard: Logitech G512 carbon | Mouse: Logitech g900

The PSU sounds sketchy would not bother with it at all even if they are a reputable company in the UK. Better go with one from EVGA,Seasonic,Antec or XFX.

Any SSD aside the V300 series from kingston are ok, if you have got that already i would just return it. One of the best cooler for it's legendary performance and low cost is the Coolermaster 212 evo.

Thanks for all the feedback :)

The PSU is really good, we use them at college and they haven't failed once in the 5 years I went there

I got an intel 530 series 120GB SSD and WD Black 1TB HDD

I'll look up the 212 evo, but If it's not quiet, then I'd gladly trade a few degrees in favour of quiet

@Is the GPU any good in your opinion?

970 is a baller gpu. You can add a second long term and get more performance long term. My brother and g/f both have it and it handles everything at very high settings.

The 212 isn't the quietest on the list of coolers, but it's only a single fan that you can turn down low...even at lower settings it'll still cool better than the stock heatsink. For a few dollars less, the Zalman CNPS10X will be similar performance but a rated 10 db quieter at max speeds over the 212 EVO. I've owned tons of zalman coolers and they're great.

PC: Intel 10700K, Asus Z490-E Strix, G.Skill Trident Z @ 3200mhz C14, Thermaltake View 71, Custom Water Cooling (EKWB Quantum, 2x 360mm SR1 Radiators, 6 Noctua NF-A12), EVGA GTX1080 ti HydroCopper, Intel 6651TB, Intel 600p 480GB, Windows 10 Pro
