I used a program to flash the iso onto the usb and now it says "an operating system wasnt found. Try disconnecting any drives that dont contain an operating system"

I actually bought this very same version of windows, what u need to do is go back to the windows 8 download wizard, put in ur activation code, then it will get some things ready and download windows like u did the first time and then when given the option to load windows to this PC or create isb/DVD media choose USB/DVD or create install media. I recommend using a flash drive amd reformatting using the windows 8 wizard. U should then b able to boot! Just use the included windows 8 download/upgrade tool and choose create media!

Hey i purchased a copy of windows 8.1 pro with a student discount from microsoft. I then downloaded the windows media creation tool to download the iso onto a dvd of mine. I booted the pc and put the dvd in. I made sure the optical drive was furst in boot sequence however the pc said reboot and select proper boot device. So i dragged the iso off the dvd onto a freshly formatted flash drive and tried it too with no succes. I tried everything in the bios like changing it to legacy only ir uefi only but nothing is working. Please help.

You can't just drag it onto the usb drive. Follow this guide and it will probably work just fine.
