Hello fellow forum participants. I have a couple of questions related to a potential upcoming NAS purchase. I am a huge networking noob and I was wondering if you guys could help me pick out a NAS. Alright so here are my requirements (I'm not even sure a NAS can fill all of them);

-I need to be able to back up Windows PC's and Apple machines (time machine)

-I want to be able to store all of my photos and (possibly games?) rather than carrying around an external harddrive where ever I go in my house with a laptop.

-It needs to be redundant, preferably RAID 5 (so more than 3 bays). It preferably with easy to setup and maintain RAID.

-it needs to be super EXTRA retard proof, I really have no idea how to setup fancy networks or servers. If you need more than a users manual to set it up then it probably won't work for me.

-it would be nice if I could access it from other houses, (no idea how fast that would be but it still would be nice.)

-preferably under $850

-ohhh..... and it has to be reliable

Any who it would be awesome if you guys could help me out with all of this.

Thanks a bunch,

Daniel M
