Hello, I need some help compiling a parts list for a workstation/server computer and a gaming computer.

Budget is: $8000-$10000 for both builds combined.

Workstation/Server:

- Will be used to host a large-scale project at home for some time. (The finished project will be hosted on a dedicated server so don't worry).

- 64GB RAM

- 500GB SSD at least

- 8TB of HDD

- Liquid cooled

- NVIDIA GTX 980

- Case - no preference

- Operating system: Win 7

- Keyboard/mouse/headphones - none

- Monitor: Dell p2715q

Gaming Rig:

- NZXT Kraken X61

- Gaming motherboard

- 16GB memory

- 1TB SSD

- 2TB HDD

- 2x Radeon 295X2

- Case - NZXT H440 White/Black

- Operating system: Win 8.1

- Monitor: 2x Dell p2715q

- Keyboard: Corsair K70 RGB Brown

- Mouse: R.A.T. 9 (Black)

- Headphones - none

Thanks for all the help. Please create both parts list on www.pcpartpicker.com

I'd say don't bother with 2x 295x2s... 4-way is just not good value in any way.

Why a 980 on a workstation? And what is this project of which you speak?

The projects never end in my line of work.

For when a friend comes over and we want to game. ;)

Without knowing what the project is... I can't help you put together a workstation.

But what resolution will you be gaming at?

The project consists of running 1-4 servers that be of decent load on the CPU.

I'm going to be gaming on one monitor at a time on the gaming rig.

But what kind of project is the question. It depends on the needs.

One monitor doesn't tell me the resolution, though.

I don't know how to explain the type of project then.. hmm

The three monitors I listed in the OP are all same and 4k.

Um it's hard to say but for the workstation. Are we talking rendering server, Storage or cloud related? Could probably drop down the gpu if you don't need and if you do Titan would be better if for like rendering, workstation. I would also reccomend some xeons or x99 if you need the sata use, PCI-e slots or even networking.

You don't need 4 way at that point it's just better to wait for 390x or get Titan x's.
