Hi forum members,

I want to let you know that there is hope about coil whine!

It won't help in many cases but I still suggest you try it, since you'll be doing good anyways.

My GTX 970 G1, had a pretty damn audible coil whine under high loads. However after 4 days of folding... IT DISAPPEARED!

I suggest you download the folding@home client, and try to leave it on during the day while you're at work/school or while you sleep.

I was pretty disappointed when I first heard it, however I decided to live with it, and then the miracle happened.

After every night of folding there was a bit less and less coil whine and now it's completely silent.

Happy folding!

P.S. It might be propaganda to get you folding, it might not be, however what do you lose if you try :)

That's actually p interesting, if running on load long enough does help solve coil whine. I wonder if I should stress my PSU, then...

The card is pretty new. I bought it last week and I've been folding ever since. I guess the heat helped things settle... idk. But it certainly did help :)

Already in on #738 place in the LTT team, going for the top 100!

The competitive aspect of it is making my motivation even stronger.

I started because I want to start smoking and there is still no good enough cure for cancer, let's change that so I can smoke as much as I want...

Folding cures everything!  :D

Ive actually noticed after a while of using my 980 over the past couple of months, playing games and normal everyday stuff it has slowly gone down a significant amount. I can still hear it now since everything else in my case is virtually silent in my opinion but in most of the games i had the most problems with it, it is nearly gone. I might try this idea though to eliminate it completely! #downwithcoilwhine
