That 4 pin plug is meant for the CPU power not the GPU, GPU's use a minimum of a 6 pin when they require external power. You need to buy a new PSU to support the GPU because it will not work without the proper plugs.

before you tried another method by purchasing another molex to 8pin and 6pin  adapter, look at your PSU rail amps, well most likely it doesn't have enough power to light your card.

 

anyway you will need to get proper PSU for your new card
