I already know all of this.

It's HARDWARE LOCKED

@Gofspar and @KingCry have already tried and it starts throttling at anything over 110%

Well then you just don´t have what it takes GPU wise for a 1600MHz+ OC, meaning your card isn´t good enough. Either the chip or the VRM doesn´t hold enough quality for more.

Besides that other than synthetic benchmarks you would no feel much difference. Real world performance will not scale that good.

Who was the other person that tried to up the power limit then..

Gof did, but he did his tweaks that he does for his G1 Gaming so he can do his overclocks. Plus the voltage controllers are different along with the PCB layout on both cards. It will take some time before you can get a nice BIOS for the Twin Frozer V to hit some mad crazy OC's

You just don´t run into issues like that with eithe reference PCB or Classified PCB :).

The card is locked to that TDP, anytime you try to force the card over its stock it trips the vrel sensor on the voltage controller.

It does that stock now I think it's just broke the sensor tbh :P

It hit PWR when I had the BIOS working so it was definitely the power limit.

Oh trust me @Gofspar made a 980 killer BIOS cuz he iz so badass

Also it's not the GPU as I have said twice as I hit power limit locks before I can hit higher clocks.

Thats cause the Reference PCB is still using the same voltage controller as the Kepler reference cards did :D

Why would he make a 980 BIOS for a GTX970 ?

Is this a Chuck Norris move? Joke aside if you want to see a killer BIOS look at my Titan X clock speeds... then you know what killer means.

*facepalm*

He has a BIOS that can run a G1 Gaming at 1600MHz rivaling a 980 reference.

Obviously not in all cases but generally.

Have you been guaranteed a refund?

No that's the bit I am worried about.

I doubt Overclockers would even allow a full refund :P

But they gave me a full refund for a B Grade monitor out of warranty so anythings up for grabs.

The BIOS will only help get past the limitations on the card, getting to 1600MHz is luck of the silicon lottery. Just like me hitting 1400MHz a few times on my 770's on air when I still owned then. It was 100% luck of the draw for clock speeds. BIOS only help along the way to reach the end result.

Aha great and I had a GTX980 modded, a reference card to stable 1618MHz... where´s the problem? Are you his fanboy or why are you raving that hard around, sorry I don´t mean to be a dick, but you behave kind of weird. There are actually people here in the forum that are just as capable in modding BIOS for a GPU.

You don't really have a good reason from a business standpoint to give you a refund, they'd lose money as they wouldn't be able to sell the card as new. Just sell it on eBay or something and pay the difference. IMO it really isn't worth the trouble.

IMO not even close to beast for a 970, yes they are "Binned" but not to the point were I would be saying Impressed by any means. The MSI cards and the G1 Gamings have the exact same power delivery set up. Power phases and everything. The only overbuilt beast 970's are still from Zotac

No Power limits are locked on any of the cards, only miss readings most of the time. Vrel and PWR can be trigger by stupid little things. Just having chrome open on a friends system with a 100% stock G1 Gaming trips VRel.

You seem to have a hard time to understand that I am not am imposter but someone that wants to be on the bleeding edge of technology. Do you think just because I could a spent a ton of Dollars on my PCs makes me high skilled in hardware? No sorry, that´s not how it works. But back when I wasn't getting VRel my card would start throttling at 110% no matter what Gofspar or anyone had set it to.

He tried 133% and 120% and 115% and nothing worked.

I will only say one thing you need to find out what you need to do for your BIOS for your card. You should learn how to mod a BIOS and work and tweak your own hardware. Having someone else do it for can be very unfortunate cause they could mess up your hardware 1000x over. There would be nothing you could do about it because you let someone else do the work.

60% Power Target on my BIOS I had done for you first was around 210-230W  the max it would be able to pull with 415W at 120%.
