This is my first completely custom build and I was going to post it here, to get recommendations. I am limited to around a 1,000 dollar budget so I can't go any higher price wise.

 

CPU: AMD FX-8350

 

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3

 

Memory: G.Skill Sniper 8GB DDR3-1866

 

SSD: Corsair Force LS 240GB

 

HDD: WD Green 3TB WD30EZRX

 

GPU: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970

 

Case: Fractaql Design Define R5

 

PSU: EVGA 600B 600W 80+ Bronze Certified

The thing is, it's comparable to yours. This 960 has 4gb of vram (yes, all running at the same speed)

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

This is definitely true, but this 960 has a much higher clock speed and amount of VRAM.

I would choose the 970 any day over this, but I chose this in order to fit in the storage that was important to this build. (he had a 3tb drive in his first build)
