TJ08-e GPU temps high

mapegl
Go to solution Solved by mapegl,

fixed it.....well I get 77°C now, which far better than the previous temps.

Removed the HDD cage and switched the Air Penetrator for an NF-A14, removed the fans above the GPU, removed the PCI slot covers.

It is not super quiet now, but much more pleasent.

make the ones by the gpu exhaust, i think you already said the answer. Take out the pci fan. With the case panels off do temps decrease?

Thanks for the help

So as the title explains I get some higher temps than I did before.

I bought the TJ08-e since I wanted a case with overclcoking capabilities, but still a small PC. That worked out well and I got my PC to be very quiet at idle.

The HDD is on a rubber-band construction (sharkoon makes those - very nice) and the CPU fan is inaudible. The 180mm fan in the front is running at 7V an very quiet. My CPU has awesome temps, under a realisitc load like gaming an such it doesn't even reach 60°C and that with my 4.6Ghz overclock.

BUT my GPU is always at fairly high temps, 45-50°C at idle and easily reaches 81°C while gaming. The problem is not really the temperature. I couldn't care less. Totally fine for a 290. But the TRI-X cooler actually ramps up to 53% and becomes clearly audible even through my (admittetly open-design) headphones.
It seems like hot air gets trapped up there in my case and can't get out quick enough, but I have no idea how to fix that.

(I moved the HDD up in the 5.25" bay to make it quieter by using an anti-vibration mount, so the HDD is not at the bottom anymore)

  • 3 weeks later...

So noone has any idea? Sad.

Well I got a fan bracket for the PCI slot above the card and installed two Noctua fans I had laying around to blow at the card.......well that didn't help. It actually makes cooling worse, prbably because the airflow going over the card is now more restricted than before.....I dunno.

make the ones by the gpu exhaust, i think you already said the answer. Take out the pci fan. With the case panels off do temps decrease?

I will try that later...... kinda sucks. My 290 is actually one of the coolest and quietest that are on the market and it runs freakin hot in my case. And that although the TJ08e is supposed to be pretty good with GPU cooling.....I don't get it. Even with the air penetrator on high it doesnt help.

Nah...no improvement. Left the covers off but it still goes up to 80°C and fans ramp up. It is not super loud, but with decent airflow the card can stay relatively quiet.

EDIT: Did you mean the side panels??? I thought PCI covers.

i meant make it naked. You took off the side, temps should go down as far as they go normally, glad you figured it out.
