I'm pretty close to building my first computer and I wanted to overclock, would this motherboard be good for what I want? ( http://bit.ly/1mXM7vO) or should I get something better? I'm getting a budget system and looking for a mobo from $100 - $160. Any feedback would be appreciated. Build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/dF74hM

How about this ASUS board http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131851 - it's about the same price. Otherwise, I'd recommend this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131877 for a little more.

Giga-byte is okay, but UD3 boards leave much to be desired.

Good luck!

Agreed.  This build is a better value.  The only concern I have is the AsRock motherboard.. they never work out for me.  However, there is enough margin built in (compared to OP's first build) that a substitute could easily be found w/in budget.

i have quite the opposite experience with them .

now i have third asrock board in the row

(first was AM3 , then 1155 low end board and now Z97 anniversary)

and they have never let me down so far .

although of course he can easily get more "shiny" motherboard within his budget :

for example H97 asus pro gamer , or even MSI Z97 krait (possibility of future upgrade to "K" cpu and overclocking) for like a 105 bucks

i5 4460 + stock cooler + cheap H97 or even more expensive H97/Z97 motherboard has actually same or lower price ,
consumes less power and it will give you better performance in gaming and most other tasks .

number of cores and clock speeds are meaningless in this case .
