Ok so here are some specs for a good Adobe machine, im not very good at workstation machines, i build gaming machines mainly

Rule - Money no object!

CPU - Intel Xeon E5 2687W Dual

One of these is a fast bugger for rendering, so hows about 2 of them? 3.1Ghz 8 Cores 16 threads and a turbo freq of 3.8Ghz make this rather fast for a CPU with 8 cores.

Heat maybe an issue compared to i7 3770k or 3960/70k but still gaming is a side note on here.

Motherboard - Asus Z79PE D8 WS

Dual socket motherboard from ASUS, i like ASUS over almost any other mobo brand even though i use a G1 Sniper M3

has x3 SSD Cache although personally id use RAID1/0 for the storage, you can still cache ur mass drives and have them fast 30GB min for onboard cache

it has x7 PCI-E3 slots, now i will not be adding 7 690s or 7990 or whatever lol, impossible although would look rather cool as a picture lol, anyways having this allows for maximum speed when gen3 is fully working with everything so the max speed is reached etc

8 DIMM slots, more RAM the better for Premiere CS6 and a lot of other programs

GPU - x2 ASUS 680 4GB or x1 690 4GB

Im more pushed towards the 680 for looks, but the 690 is still beautiful in its way, the 680 also can be hyrdo from EVGA but thats only a 2GB flavour

why pick this? CUDA is the only reason, personally i love both AMD and Nvidia but Nvidia are just better to me and PhysX is just a nice option but more CUDA the faster Adobe will work with render, it loves CUDA and for that reason only these cards, if on a tigher budget get x2 670s they are just as good :)

Sound Card - ASUS Xonar Essence STX

Solid sound card, monster in its own class so to speak, even if you are doing nothing than other than listening to music on a workstation GET THIS CARD!! sound cards are just so much better than onboard.

If you do gaming videos then get it for better sound in the game and when watching your videos back :)

Case - 900D for madness, Cosmos 2 if building now.

since i saw linus video with the 900D i loved it, the space in that is stupid :) wish i could put an ITX inside the case, would be rather funny.

Anyways the 900D is a massive case, just for the sake of more radiators etc not released yet tho so if you want this, wait around :) or wait for linus to get one and review it.

The Cosmos 2 is a monster case motherboards are mounted differently in this so if you like to stand out, here you go, but this case is massive i mean massive.

SSD - OCZ Octane (SATA3)

I prefer SATA drives over PCI, the motherboard picked could easily support a PCI card, but i like mounting the SSDs in weird places, so im picking this due to my personal opinion if i was going for flat performance then id get a Revo x2 drive.

the setup would be in RAID1/0 (4 Drives) all at 480GB then id have a cache storage drive with a 60GB SSD or onboard 30GB SSD

Mass Storage - Seagate Barracuda 3TB x3

May aswell fill up the drive cage for giggles, so ill go with x3 3TB drives from Seagate, i have a 500GB inside my system now at 7200RPM no issues, there brilliant drive makers.

7200RPM always over 5400RPM just for speed. Store all my files (Images Adobe projects etc) on here ready for youtube.

CPU Cooler- Watercooling or NZXT Kraken x60 Push Pull - Noctua NF P14 x4

Watercooling setup if you wish, personally i like all in one coolers and i dont ruin my looks of GPUs with this setup

So Kraken, just like the H100i is a monster for cooling, works well with OC, personally i hear Xeons are not good for OC so just having this in the case for looks is good :)

have the Noctua in push pull, just keep an eye on them for dust, clean the system monthly to every few months

RAM - Kingston BEAST

Fast with the speed, 2400Mhz and CL11 so good all around, id get maybe 32GB+ not cheap RAM but tbh with no cash objects just go for it, if not this Corsair Dominator or the Mushkin Black

(I shall continue this later as i have to leave for now, most of the parts do post your ideas below!!!)

What does an Transformer get? Life insurance or car insurance? - Russell Howard - Standup (Made me giggle a bit)

While I appreciate the input, why would you rig all this together while, like you even said, don't know a lot about workstation desktops? It looks like you just picked the most expensive stuff you could find and put it together.

If money is no object why settle for Nvidia 680's? Go Quadro 6000 or Quadro Plex 7000? (on the video end)

Mortherboard, go Intel W2600CR mobo, 2 E5-2600 series CPU slots, 256 GB Max RAM, onboard 8 SAS Raid controller, optional 2nd daughter card Raid controller (that's 16 SAS ports max), two onboard SATA3 ports, 4 PCIe x16 v3 slots, 3 PCIe x8 v3 sltos, one PCIe x4 v3 slot.

Storage: FusionIO ioDrive2 - 2.4 TB SSD (PCIe x8 v2 slot required) or ioSCALE 3.4 TB SSD.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.
