i mean, buying COMPLETELY new ram would be a complete waste of money, it works.

you are MUCH MUCH better off buying another set of 2x4.

Current Desktop Build | 2200G | RX 580 4GB | 8GB RAM | CTRL | Logitech G Pro Wireless

Laptop | 2018 MBA 256/16GB | MX Master

If your not overclocking, H series mobo. If only gaming, cut down to 8 gigs of ram. Get better psu. Spend any newly saved cash on gpu.

problem is what happened was I bought the 16GB RAm, mobo, and CPU I installed everything but when I power it on, no sign of power and wont turn on. I got my doubts it may be the PSU, everything was connected in properly and all. Also there was a burning smell coming from my PC.

But I talked to CM and they are sending me a new PSU, I am set to receive it on like Saturday or Monday. I just wanted to know if with my new PSU the build works or not?

Yes I also regret getting 16GB should of got a better GPU instead or even a better PSU.

If you already bought the stuff I guess it is useless to suggest keeping the original memory.

It does sound as if the psu blew, but could also be something on the motherboard. Unless there is something visible - unlikely - you may be able to sniff it out. Take the psu out and sniff the openings. If something blew inside you should still smell the burnt insulation.

Due to my wires been tight, the usb 3.0 header cable pins bent could that have been the problem even if I can use it, I wouldn't of used it so I didn't mind too much but it looked like it will work.

Bent usb pins do not usually cause a problem, unless they are touching.

Since im a pro Noob, I thought COOLMAX and CM (cooler master) were same things.

the actual PSU I got is

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Elite-Power-Supply/dp/B004XG6I1W

Will my upgrade work? I tried finding it on PC Part picker and couldn't find exactly that one.

What are you going to be using the pc for ?

What is your budget for the upgrades ?

An i7 isn't really needed unless you are doing things like Video Editing/Rendering etc.

Yes I'm aware of that and I do quite a lot of Rendering for Youtube too, hence I got i7. I'm going to be gaming, and no specific upgrade I decided I'm getting this, just want to know if its compatible.

Yes it is all compatible. I would suggest changing that Coolermaster psu though as it is pretty average.

Hmm, maybe 1 day in the future. I dont really see how PSU effects the PC's gaming benchmarks.

As long as it gets enough, it should be fine shouldn't it lol?

Well ofcourse 1 day, Im going to get an SSD on it, a blu ray DVD drive, and then maybe a PSU

Low end Cooler Master power supplies are not the best. Try it and see how you go. If you start getting blue screens, shutdowns or anything like that then look at changing it.

Clean and well regulated power affects overclocking a great deal. Also contributes to system stability and component lifespan.
