ASUS PA238QR problems

I just built my new PC and I connected it to my old acer monitor with VGA and it worked fine I then connected my new:

with HDMI and when I turn the monitor on it just says ASUS, then "NO VGA SIGNAL" and then goes to sleep, IDK why. no VGA cable is even connected to the ASUS monitor

Try changing the source to HDMI
