Hey guys, I am picking up a Samsung 830 128gb SSD from a friend and I already have one exactly the same as my boot drive. Should I raid these two drives? Or I was thinking of using one for boot/os and the other purely for game storage. What would you guys recommend?

My Timewaster: i5 3570k @ 4.4GHz 1.19v, Asus P8Z77-V, Noctua NH-D14, Sapphire Radeon HD 7850, 16 GB Corsair Vengance, 128GB Samsung 830 SSD, HAF 912, Logitech G710+, G700

Im using mine separately, I don't need the extra speed and its easier to re-install windows and keep steam intact when i mess up my system somehow :P

That's exactly what I was thinking. Plus I'll be able to free up some space on my boot ssd because I have a few games installed on that. Thank you for the quick reply!

there was an article on tom's hw with a ton of tests about 2 ssd in raid 0, and it said that there's no perceptible increase in perfomance

Agree with gugoos, the article on tom's harware is here: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/ssd-raid-benchmark,3485.html

But in summary, raid 0 is like SLI scaling, where it's only optimized for the benchmarks and once you get down to actual day to day performance (windows loading, game loading...) it doesn't make a difference, simply because SSDs are fast engough and they aren't what's slowing the computer down. So considering that raid 0 increases the risks of data loss, you're better of using the two drives seperatly rather than in raid.
