Hi Everyone,

So, my current monitor just died and I'm looking to buy a new one. My budget is $950 CAD and after a bit of research, the only two monitors that I'm interested in that are within the budget limit is this ROG Swift and the Dell U3415W.

My specs are:

CPU - 4960X

RAM (This probably doeesn't matter, but...) - 1866 CL9

GPU - Tri-SLI 780 Ti

While the 21:9 aspect ratio looks more appealing to me, I do spend a good amount of time gaming as well. Unfortunately, I don't have a spare monitor to use and wait for the rumored Acer 34" G-Sync monitor, so I'm going to need to make a choice within the next couple days. In case it matters, I mainly play CS:GO, Diablo 3, and Guild Wars 2.

Which monitor do you guys recommend?

.....Judging by the games you play, 4k is not the way to go. RoG Swift is the way to go if you do not want any excuses for dying in CS:Go.

CPU Intel i7 5930k - Motherboard Asus X99 Deluxe - RAM Kingston DDR4 32GB - GPU nVidia GeForce GTX980 3way SLI - Case NZXT H440 – Samsung XP941 m.2, Samsung 850 Pro, WD Black, WD Red - PSU Corsair Ax1200i

Definitely any 1440p monitor which both happen to be. Between the two monitors...I'd say the Asus monitor is much more concrete compared to the Dell U3415. Sure it has a 21:9 AR which does look extremely A'OK when watching films & playing games which can utilize the ultra wide screen real-estate (IPS ofc) but you'll always be limited to 60hz which the ROG Swift can use a 120/144hz refresh rate (which'll equal quite more accurate response times if you're serious about playing games).

Though I'm siding with the Asus ROG Swift some little version of me is like "Nah get the 21:9 monitor instead"

Asus ROG Swift or how about the new Acer Predator XB270HU. True 8-bit IPS 144Hz (yes!) monitor with G-Sync

In depth review: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/acer_xb270hu.htm

(it's not crap, and does deliver, and compares with other gaming 144Hz monitors in terms of performance).

Sadly, it is only available in the U.S for now.

This xb270hu or hold out for the acer xr341ck... i think the widescreen is worth it to use some placeholder crap for 4 months or so (im sure you can find one for 10$ if you look around)

anything else is a fucking disgrace for your build
